Q: Where is Sally Marie Photography Ltd based?
A: Our portrait studio and gallery is situated on King Edward Street, Barmouth (map HERE), although we cover weddings all over Wales and England (examples HERE).
If you’re not sure whether your venue is covered then get in touch - we will usually be able to accommodate your requests although there may be a small surcharge for distances over 100 miles.
Q: Are you available to photograph my wedding?
A: Give us a call on 01341 28 11 93 (or e-mail us) with your wedding date and we will let you know the availability. Remember that spring and summer dates and weekend weddings book up very quickly. You should aim to book your photographer 12 months before the wedding date. (Don’t worry if you’ve left it a bit late, we may still be able to cover your wedding - just give us a call and ask!)
Q: What if you are unable to make it on the day?
A: Although such an event is highly unlikely, we do have contingencies in place for extreme emergencies, and as such we reserve the right to substitute an alternative photographer in the event of a serious accident, for example. As a professional company we have appropriate insurances in place, however you are required to take out your own wedding insurance to protect you against any unforeseen disasters in any area of the wedding preparations.
Sally Marie Photography Ltd is also a member of PhotoFill, a substitution service for professional photographers. In the event of an unforeseen emergency, PhotoFill provides details of other locally available professional wedding photographers.
Q: What is the cheapest wedding package available?
A: If you’re asking this question you need to give some thought to what you really want from your wedding photographs - after all, they are one of the few lasting reminders of your precious day and the only record of those special memories and emotions - do you really want to cut corners here?
You can look back at your treasured collection of wedding photographs in 30 years’ time and either be filled with joy as the wonderful, happy memories flood back, or you can flick through dull, poor quality snapshots and regret not making more of this one precious reminder.
You really do get what you pay for, and this especially applies to wedding photography. Couples spend a great deal on creating their perfect day; after all it is the most momentous occasion of your lives. But when the flowers have wilted, the cake has been eaten, the marquee taken down and the dress packed away in the attic, you will still have every part of your amazing day captured forever in your photographs.
If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly - think about it!
Q: Can we see some examples?
A: Of course! There are image galleries on this website (HERE), and you can also call into the studio to view some previous albums. In fact, we highly recommend a visit to the studio to have a coffee and a chat with the photographer, as this is the best way to ascertain what sort of style you are looking for in your images, and also to make sure you are happy and comfortable working with the photographer and can communicate easily.
We also frequently exhibit at wedding fayres around Wales - check our Latest News pages for upcoming dates and venues.
Q: How much is a family portrait?
A: Studio sessions are usually £75 for a one-hour photo shoot, however we often run special promotions (view special offers HERE). Lifestyle shoots start from £95.
You can then choose any images you would like to purchase at your viewing session and pay for the finished products when you order them.
There is no obligation to purchase prints and we never hard-sell. (We don’t need to; you’ll be spoilt for choice!)
Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: Yes! Pets are very welcome at your portrait session - we’ll even photograph them on their own (see Pet Photography). Do let us know in advance though if you are bringing an animal as it helps us to plan your shoot more effectively.
Q: What about outfits?
A: If you’re stuck for ideas or don’t know how best to co-ordinate your outfits, have a read through our web page on what to wear.
Q: Do you offer makeovers as part of the photoshoot?
A: By all means make yourself up prior to the shoot as you normally would, but at the moment full makeovers are only included within certain modelling portfolio packages. For portrait photographs, we like to photograph you naturally and as you are, capturing the essence of your personality rather than a glammed-up mask! However, if you particularly want your make-up and/or hair professionally styled for your shoot, let us know and we may be able to arrange this service at an additional charge (subject to stylist’s availability).
Q: Can I buy a studio session as a present for someone?
A: Yes! We have gift vouchers to suit, either in denominations of £20 (available HERE) or you can treat a loved one to a photoshoot in the form of a portrait experience voucher (available HERE). Portrait experience vouchers do not have a monetary amount on them so the recipient will not know how much you’ve spent.
Q: Do you take credit cards?
A: Yes - you can pay by credit or debit card, cash or cheque. Payment for studio sessions and Lifestyle shoots due at the time of booking. Payment for finished products due at the time of ordering.
Q: Can I have my photos on CD?
A: We believe that professional portrait photographs need to be displayed at their best. We only use professional laboratory printing services and high quality display books in order to do your photos justice. Unfortunately photos printed out from home computers just never look as good, and your images deserve better!
Therefore, at the moment we are only able to supply images on CD for corporate work and some wedding packages.
Q: What are your opening hours?
A: The studio is currently open by appointment so if you’d like to call in for a chat or to book a session, let us know when you’re coming and we’ll get the kettle on!
Q: How will my images be used?
A: Copyright of all images remains the property of the photographer. We may wish to use your images for the website or other marketing material, but if you’d rather we didn’t do this, then just say so and we will respect your wishes. You may be asked to sign a release giving your permission for images to be used in certain cases, but you are under no obligation whatsoever.
